Confidence level at nadir.......................

In todays world of better education, better technology and a higher std. of living (for atleast a handful), its unbelievable to find people- mainly youngsters throw everything to religion and god. The questions arise in two; has the level of self-confidence hit the bottom?? or has the greed levels gone up?????????? I believe its a combination of the two. Is it not true????

  1. well..i c'nt believe that somebody like me who is not into god & religion much....wud say that...bt u imply giving into religion & god's hand is bad...which i guess is not always true..yes i am against those who use religion & god to propogate hatred or discrimination....but i guess if we have a younger generation who truly understands the meaning behind god & reeligion...probably we would have a more peaceful world...

  2. probably true..but do we understand the connect between religion and god? my feeling is tht the younger generation are more into religion only because their needs hav gone up. and they believe its god who can give them all...
peaceful world can be realised thro love- do we need religion for tht? love everyone, inculcate positive energy and learn to forgive..try to empathise with ppl. i guess ther are a brazilian number of ways to make tis world a better place.

I'm a little confused, actually i don't agree with the generalization.
I think religion and god mean different things to different people. For many, religion is a collection of beliefs and ethics from which they choose those they identify with and use as guides through life.and if god is that force they believe in to draw strength from, I see no harm in the increase in faith among youngsters. For many its the only strength as not all are blessed with a shoulder to cry on.sometimes religious ceremonies predominate, which may make no sense to many people, but thats like a meditation session or a de-stressing activity or sometimes just a social event for many. so where is the harm.Unfortunately there are some who have percieved religion in a way that would help them meet their selfish ends or as an excuse for their actions. As long as people dont force their belief on others i dont see any harm.
    To each his/her belief!

I totally agree with the fact that generalization is wrong..wat i intend to say is that nowadays the income levels of youngsters hav been on the higher side and suddenly one's reuirements (considered luxury once upon a time) has become a necessity now. when the lvl headedness is lost, ultimately ur forced to look up to some supernatural force to guide u thro the turbuleent times. and all of a sudden god/religion is of utmost importance to u- shd give u more money, more strength to face the grossly mismanaged life, etc. i think it has reached a point wher ppl hav ceased to think for themselves (loss of self-confidence. thts exactly y i say that they throw everything to religion/god. bottom line is that increase in needs hav led to loss of confidence, insecurity and higher dependency on blind customs (u perfom this ritual or follow that custom, everything will be fine!)....
